Our Mission
Shining a Light On Skin Cancer is a dedicated project aimed at raising awareness about skin cancer, featuring personal interviews, medical insights, and the journey of those affected. Through the powerful medium of documentary filmmaking, we strive to provoke thought and inspire positive change in how skin cancer is perceived and addressed.

About
This documentary began as a personal passion project.
Like many people, I grew up enjoying the sun without fully understanding its risks. Reapplying sunscreen felt optional until I began to see how dangerous that mindset can be. My perspective deepened through exposure to sun protection culture in East Asia, where countries like Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and China treat skin health as a daily priority, not an afterthought.
The issue became even more personal through my family. I have an uncle who works in skin cancer treatment at a clinic in New York, and through him, I witnessed the real consequences of delayed awareness.
As a lifelong Girl Scout, I was taught to lead with purpose and service. This film is rooted in that belief, created to reach audiences across generations, raise awareness, and encourage conversations that can save lives.
